A former student of the Académie royale d'architecture, Lucotte wrote the articles "maçonnerie", "marbrier", "marqueterie", "menuiserie", "mosaïque (art. méchaniques)", "plomberie", "pont, des machines", "fleuriste", "formier", "tourbissure", "ganterie" and "serrurerie" in the volumes IX to XVII of the Encyclopédie by Diderot and D’Alembert. He also provided more than 45 comments and over 650 drawings to the plate volumes.
Lucotte left two works:
le Vignole moderne, ou Traité élémentaire d’architecture (3 vol., Paris, 1772–1784)
l’Art de la maçonnerie (Paris, 1783)
Bertrand Defehrt or A J Defehrt - AKA - J. A. de Fehrt, J. A. Defehrt - c. 1723-1774 - individual; printmaker; painter/draughtsman; French; Male
Engraver and draughtsman, specialising in book illustrations; worked much for Diderot's Encyclopédie. Departed in 1769 for Copenhagen and died in Denmark. The entry in Saur gives the following alternative names: A J de Fehrt, Bertrand de Fehrt, Carl de Fehr, Charles de Fehr.
Engraving in very good condition for its age. Plate has various water marks, some foxing. Small tear in border bottom right corner. Pricing & Grading commensurate.
